About Us

KitsapFerries.com is a project of Kitsap Transit, which has been operating reliable, convenient public transit for Kitsap County since 1983. Last year, Kitsap Transit carried 3.8 million riders.

In 2016, Kitsap Transit’s Board of Commissioners adopted a final investment plan for launching fast-ferry service from Bremerton, Kingston and Southworth by 2020 and directed the agency to put a sales tax of 3/10 of 1 percent to fund the service on the November general-election ballot. Under state law, the agency’s use of this sales tax is restricted to ferry service.

Now it’s up to the voters.

As recently as last fall, surveys indicated that only four in 10 Kitsap County residents were aware of any plans for such a ferry service.

It’s easier than ever to share the plan with friends: Check out our Share page on this site.

If approved, the fast-ferry plan would allow the agency to put $1.5 million into bus service.

The new sales tax would support existing foot ferries, which are currently funded with bus transit dollars.
